Before your trip

QBT recommends that travellers plan ahead to ensure the travel experience is as seamless and stress-free as possible.

Advice to travellers:

  • Ensure your traveller profile is up to date with contact information, credit card details and frequent flyer programs
  • Request your travel as early as possible to ensure there is availability for your destination
  • Consider travelling up to one day earlier to reduce the impact of any travel disruptions

Advice to travel bookers:

  • Establish frequent communication channels with your travellers
  • Remain informed with the latest travel advice from official sources
  • Allow for plenty of time when booking connecting flights
  • Book all required travel (hotel and car hire) when booking flights
  • Consider booking flexible fares – if this is practical, and aligns with your Entity’s travel policy

Check before you go:

  • Airline on-time performance stats when choosing flights

o   Australian Government Advice – Airline On Time Performance Statistics

  • You meet the necessary vaccination requirements and have the required proof of vaccination (digital and or paper-based)
  • You have completed all required travel documentation
  • COVID-19 testing requirements
  • Regularly check travel and health requirements relating to your itinerary

Arriving at the airport

Australian airport traffic has seen an 89% increase in monthly passengers* since January 2022, meaning you may experience longer than expected wait times when transiting through check-in, baggage drop and security lines.

Tips for a better airport experience:

  • Choose smaller airports if possible (most delays are occurring at major airports)
  • Arrive reasonably early – check the guidance of your airline
  • Travel with carry-on luggage to avoid baggage delays or losses
  • Stay up to date with airport and airline news

For guidance on how to ensure the airport check-in experience is as smooth as possible, review the below major airport guides:
